Possible partial edrioasteroid?

Fossil Claw

Recommended Posts

Do you think this could be a partial edrioasteroid on a Hebritela brachiopo

Found it today in Cincinnati. Ordovician period

It looks like it could be one where the arms disarticulated

Looks more like a crinoid columnal, to me.

could be. The matrix looks like it came from a corryville site which is the best horizon for edrios. Without an air abrasive, the best way to clean it is with a thick paste made from tide powdered laundry soap and an old tooth brush.

I see it, although I am known for my power to see things that aren't there...

Maybe a better photo would change my mind, but I'm not seeing anything convincingly edrioasteroidish.

Looks as if it might have plates rather than crinoid stem - better pic needed though.

I will keep trying to take better pictures. After loupping hundreds of Hebritela this past couple years trying to find one this is the first one I have louped that look Ed like it might be one instead if a crinoind stem piece or bryzoa.
