Dolomite powder?

holdinghistory

Recommended Posts

Just got my sand blaster in the mail today. I was looking for some powder, not quite sure where you usually buy it. I have heard dolomite is good. I will be prepping trilobites and fish mainly for now. Anyone have a good place to get it, or any other powder recommendations?

I use Axner Pottery Supply.

They are very helpful, reasonably priced, and ship quickly.

You may want to get both some dolomite and bicarb.  Dolomite is a bit harsh on most fish unless they are from the 18 inch layer or bottom cap.  Bicarb is a bit softer than dolo.

I'm with @RJB. I use baking soda. I just buy the 13 pound bag at Costco. It will last for quite a while bc I do the vast majority of the prep with scribes and only use abrasive for detail prep.
