belemniten
Last week I had a great time to hunt in the Netherlands/Belgium for shark teeth. I was mainly at a good site near Antwerp but those finds I will post in the next days. What i want to show you here are the teeth and other things, which I found on various beaches there. For example i was in Cadzand or in Vlissingen. Too bad the shark teeth dont really have a good quality but nonetheless I am happy with my finds But pictures say more than words... Zwarte Polder: There its very difficult to find shark teeth with a good quality and the beach is often full with tourists. The fossiliferous sand comes from the Westerscheide so from eroding layers underwater. The fossils come mainly from the Miocene, Pliocene until the Pleistocene. Here are some "shabby" finds: (shark and ray teeth) The shark teeth are also very small ... This tooth is with 1.2 cm one of the prettiest: A damaged Geleocerdo: Beside of the shark teeth i also found some fish vertebrates. The biggest one is 1.5 cm long:

belemniten
Cadzand: (Het Zwin) You can also find fossils closer to Cadzand. There I found more bigger shark teeth and especially they were better preserved. Here is my whole haul: (I had only 40 minutes to search) Three nice ones (All about 2 cm long): This one is the best preserved shark tooth and has a length of 1.2 cm. Perhaps Carcharoides catticus? I also love those ray teeth. Its a pity complete examples are also rare but here is a good Myliobatis sp. with a length of 2 cm: Furthermore i found some nice Dentalia. The longest one is 4 cm long!

Thanks Ben You are too fast De Kaloot: The beach De Kaloot is a well-known location for shark teeth and is less used for tourism. Too bad that it was so stormy that i couldnt really search Here is the haul of about 2 hours collecting in the pouring rain: The best one: Maybe a Isurus oxyrinchus with a length of 1.8 cm: Another ray tooth: (2.1 cm) Last but not least I want to show you this nice 1.6 cm long Cyprea moneta: Hope that you enjoy my trip report although the find werent that good. You have to consider that i had always three people with me who arent really interested in fossils And I only visited each location once and too short !

Calvin Jenkins
I can appreciate the comment about "three people with me who aren't really interested in fossils"! I live with similar restrictions. If you find worn fossils on the beach is it possible to find better preserved fossils in the waters flowing to the beach or inland in quarries or construction earth moving? Yvie
Nice, can you get to the spoil of the digging of foundations of the wind turbines?

I dont think that i can tell much about this because I am poor photographer. I only have a bad digital camera. For editing I use the free software Gimp but this is more or less a self-explaining software. So I dont think that I am the right person to ask questions regarding photography 2 hours ago, *THEO* said: Beautiful finds and nice photos. Thanks for posting! I am feeling with you But it has a positive side because there are sometimes (!) more eyes to look for fossils I was inland and find better ones. But I will post them in the next days. Nonetheless I always enjoy fossil hunting in a beautiful landscape 1 hour ago, Yvie said: Nice, can you get to the spoil of the digging of foundations of the wind turbines? Thanks Yvie ! I dont think they are accessible and I am not sure if you can find something there ... But it maybe worth a try next time. I realized that I forgot to show my bivalves from Het Zwin (Cadzand): I think they are all Megacardita planicosta. This is a nice one with a length of 5 cm:
