It looks like a Carboniferous Artisia sp. (pith cast of a Cordaites stem).

Welcome to the forum!

My thought as well. We just had an ID request for one a few days ago. It must be cordaites season! :P

Thanks. I have another one same size I found at Cape Enrage 25 years ago.

Found this one about 20 miles from there. Very interesting

Mastadon poo?

Found 5 of these about 10 ft from each other. There was a full skeleton found about 25 miles away in 1930

The two directly above this post are Cordaites leaf, and Calamites pith cast.

Cordaites is thought to be an early conifer. I believe conifers still have a pith at the center.

Calamites is an early member of the clade that is represented by modern horsetails. Some of them were huge in comparison.

Judging by the previous posts I would guess the trackway to be around 3 cm long.

They are believed to be left by a Carboniferous version of horseshoe crab.

At this point it is just an educated guess though.

Look for bifurcating appendages and a tail drag.

Here is an example if I'm correct.

Edit: The bifurcations aren't always obvious but they are an indicator.
