I literally joined the forum 5 minutes ago, and I am still learning about the technicalities of paleontology. So if I use terms or vocabulary in the wrong context please excuse me.

I have recently acquired a bone fragment that was found in the Hell Creek Formation near Jordan Montana, and it is from the Late cretaceous period. This is all I currently know about this fossil.  I need help identifying the species that this bone fragment is from. Thanks for the help !

First welcome to the forum

Your bone specimen is just to much of a fragment and there is nothing diagnostic to tell anything about it.

Just a fyi removal of fossils, no matter what the condition,  from BLM land is illegal and can get you in a lot of trouble even if you did not remove it.  I would return it immediately from wherever you acquired it from..

The attachment show how BLM land is identified it's divided into 36 one mile sections.  Yours was found in section 36 of what ever township it was in.

I was given this fossil by a friend who is a science teacher and he was given a grant to go on a trip to this area by a local group specializing in earth sciences and they had permission to dig there, just to clarify. Anyways thanks for the help, as i said i am very new and don't now much about bone fossils.
