Found in Devonian Shale, what is it?

On my first visit to the Montour Preserve Fossil Pit in Danville, Pennslyvania I found this. Devonian Shale. Fossil is 1" across at it's base.

Bottom of a coral? The two holes/tubes have me puzzled.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Welcome to the Forum, Robert. :)

I think you either have a gastropod, with some bryozoan growing on the side of it, or, a bryozoan colony.

I think if you were to split the rock further, you might have a better idea of what it actually is.

Welcome to the forum. :)

As Tim says, you might want to delicately remove some of the matrix here. It looks like it may even pop out whole. It is a bit challenging to determine precisely what this is until you do. If it is a gastropod or even possibly a piece of coral, the holes may be indicative of organisms that would have bored into it. But once you have an opportunity to chip some of the matrix off, do post another picture.
