I'm having a hard time ID'ing this fish. There's little to no info on it either. Any help is appreciated.

The preservation on that is really nice.  Too bad they had to use a hammer and chisle to prep it.    I also wish I would have bought a ton of the santana fish before it was closed down.

I did not know that Santana was in Australia. Unless I missed something here.

Santana was in Australia many times, last time this year with The Doobie Broders in tour.  :D link

BTW, here is the document related to the fossil fish fauna of the Santana and Crato formations in Brazil. :)

"I knew that - but the fish fossil is from Australia according to  doushantuo ."

I implied no such thing.

I just showed a species that ,but for Cretaceous paleogeography, might be considered a Vinctifer.

Actually ,I feel hard done by by that single remark.

This might give off the impression I don't know the first thing about fossil fish

I ask people who have doubts over what I'm trrying to say in a post to just ask,and not to make presumptions.

edit:added a "d"(see below):P

Accepted,Tony.

One thing i noticed:Vinctifer's flank scales, are ,if not a dead giveaway,at least distinctive enough to help in recognition.

I appreciate the replies guys, I've learned so much about the Santana formation my heads going to explode and fingers are going to fall off from tireless googling. I guess that's the OCD ;) I did end up passing on this specimen but fortunately I found one in better shape and a friend for it as well! Thanks again.
