Southern Missouri Fossil

I don't k ow what this is.   I am making guesses but I don't know.   It is around 5 inches wide and 2.5 inches in depth.   The two sides are hollowed out.   One side shallow one side deep.   But they mirror each other in shape

Looks like a chert nodule.  What part of Missouri did it come from?

Definitely a chert nodule.

No fossil, that I can make out, though. :(
