joel77520
Hi, I'm about to purchase this Dyrosaurus fossil from a seller but just wanted to make sure it's not a cast or fake. He said a few of the teeth were reinserted after they came loose but that's about it. It's originally found in Morroco, and he's had it over a year in storage. It's about 5 feet across diagonally. Here's some more pics It looks real to me but I'm not an expert so I want to make sure first.
Fossildude19
Well, first off - it is a gavial (Dyrosaurus) skull, not a Dryosaurus skull. It seems like most of the teeth, rather than a few, were placed in the jaw. Something seems off about the spinal column, but I could be wrong. Wait for a few more opinions, but I would pass on this. Troodon
Skull is weathered and bleached but looks like a Dyrosaurus. . The teeth in the back end +14 of the skull look like they have been placed and some look like moasaur. I would like to see real closeups of the front teeth to see if they have been placed. The matrix does not look natural but could have been added when The skull was placed in the jacket. The snout looks extra long with lots of teeth compared to the one in the photo. I've not seen casts this large from Morocco so I think the skull is real but my concern is if all the teeth belong to this skull and the seller has already mislead you. The Speeding Carno
Like Troodon, I believe some if not all of the teeth were placed in the jaw. There also seems to be way too much teeth in the lower jaw. In the picture Troodon provided, you can see that the teeth in the lower jaw end before the teeth in the upper jaw. He just says he was cleaning out his storage and found this there after so long and wants someone else to have it that would appreciate more. Aurelius
As others have said, I don't like the teeth, but I do like the skull. I would definitely buy it, if the price was right.
