Need Help/ Information

A few years ago my school went on a field trip to Calvert Cliffs in Maryland. From what I was told many types of fossils were uncovered there. While everyone else was looking for fossils, I was skipping stones. But I picked up a rock that had some weird disformities to it and upon taking a closer look, I realized that what I was looking at was a rib cage, or at least part of one. I had no idea what to think so I kept it. Getting ready to move, i found it again. And was wondering if anyone on here has any idea what this animal could have been(linking a picture of some sort), or if they have any ideas on how I can extract the bones from the stone without harming the fossil itself. Any help/ discussion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I haven't been able to figure it out for years. I only assumed that it was a rib cage. Thank you so much!

Welcome to the Forum. :)

I agree - it looks like a scallop shell imprint.

No problem! All of us  have made mistakes with things we have found. Mother nature is a trickster.
