Clam shell possibly.... only found half

After looking at the last picture - I have to agree with Tim (fossildude19) that this is a borrow cast and I have to agree that it is cross bedded (fractured into layers across the bedding planes.).

On pieces like this sometimes an in hand examination is the best. Pictures can only get You so far.

I suggest going back to the same place and trying to find another one, maybe a group with different details could lead to a better ID.

Great idea! I did look around pretty well because I really wanted to find the "other half" but didn't see anything. I will revisit the area and see if I can find more. Thanks again.

Found another piece close to where this one was found. Thought I'd post it as well. It's  not as big as the other piece but it's somewhat similar.
