Barnacle from Aurora, NC (ID Request)

Recommended Posts

Found in raw Micro-matrix from the piles at the Aurora Fossil Museum in 2014.

I can't seem to find anything like it for comparison and identification.

The grid is quarter inch squares...

Help would be greatly appreciated!

The presence of black sand in the matrix makes me think this is from the Pungo River Formation. Unfortunately the barnacles of the Pungo River Formation have not been described. My understanding is barnacle identification can be difficult because they can be variable in form.

Drats...

That's probably the reason I can't find it, then.

Thank you for your help!
