Mornington Finds

Hi all!

 

I have recently returned from a quick fossil hunting trip from Fossil beach in Victoria.

I believe that I may have found some fossils but I am not certain.

I would also appreciate If anyone could give me tips on fossicking at Beaumaris and Mornington, e.g What to look out for and better ways to look for fossils.

1. looks like a fish jaw, but a close up of the bone could help.

 

Btw, we are going to Melbourne next week.

Is fossil beach public? Where is it? Is it worth going?

Fossil Beach is public. It is in Mornington Peninsula, on Nepean Highway. I have only been there once just so I could see what is there. You should check out this post as it shows you what you can find down at Fossil Beach:

Your gastropod looks like a part of  Scaphella lamberti.
