Looks like a coral impression.

 

But, of course, more information is required such as more precise location and size (using a ruler or measuring tape). This assists identification efforts enormously.

About the size of a dime. Found in Jefferson County, MO.

Looks like a small echinoid, there seem to be ambulacra. Echinoderm anyway. Do we know the age?

Echinoderm for sure. I could see it as a blastoid imprint.

My eyes play tricks on me when I look at your specimen. It occationally looks like it protrudes from the surface of the rock, Then I blink and it looks like a depression. I am curious which is it?

It's definitely an imprint. I agree with the others that it's echinoid.
