Inner Amethyst
I have this item which looks to me like a shell. It has the shape but it appears to be incased in rock. Is there any way for me to "uncover" the shell if there is one at all? How would I go about trying to discover if there is something hidden within? The pics don't show the form as much as in person but hopefully you guys see what I see! Steph
Miocene_Mason
I can see striations so it does look to be a shell, maybe a tooth brush and some water ( if this doesn't work use vinegar unless it's limestone) “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

Fossildude19
Ron is right. This is most likely an internal cast, so you won't be able to uncover anything. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
