Kingofthekats
Someone told me to do the tongue test to see if there is suction, There was a very noticeable suction very strong suction
ynot
The "tongue test" only tells You if the piece is porous, not whether it is a fossil or not. The piece You have does not look like a fossil. It looks like limestone and may have some shell bits in it. Where was it found and how big is it? Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Miocene_Mason
Looks like a porous limestone, the pores are probably from dissolving by water (acidic water of course) “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

Fossildude19
By "Where was it found?" , we usually mean country, state or province, county, city. It isn't always evident where the fossil or rock was found. It could have been found while on vacation, travelling for work, etc. Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." ynot
This is a silica rich siltstone. The difference between the inside and outside is caused by oxidation of the rock. 2 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
