Random rock or fossil?

My daughter insisted I bring this home, and I wondered if it's a fossil or just an interesting rock.

Looks like a bunch of worm burrows, but I can't tell if its fossil or what kind.

This type of rock is common on California beaches.

Cool, thanks. She'll be excited about that, she's 5. We found some that I'm pretty certain are fossils, I'll post later when I'm more awake. I'm curious how old they might be.
