trisk
Found this amongst some loose pieces from our favourite cliffside in Manhattan, Kansas. Age is probably Lower Permian. There's a faint series of ridges on the concave side. Maybe part of a valve?

Rockwood
The opening and general shape give me the suggestion that it may be an egg case.
Al Dente
Is this fossil porous? Does it stick to your tongue or lips? If so I'm fairly confident it is a tooth from a petalodont shark. It would be from the upper center part of the jaw. I'll try to post some images later.

Al Dente
Here are some illustrations of Petalodont teeth. The first is from forum member LanceH found here. The second is from a publication "On the Relationships of the Petalodontiformes (Chondrichthyes)".
trisk
Most of the surface appears relatively smooth, but there's an interesting pattern on convex side at the end with the two points (the grey crescent).
