Goldkaiser Posted July 19, 2017 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Hi guys; I have recently been treated to a nice week down the Isle of Wight and having spent the first day down in Yaverland today I though I would share some of my finds. 1) these both appear to be Vertebra, I'm assuming they are dinosaur as I'm preatty sure I've read somewhere that crocodiles have concave and convex ends to their Vertebra but may be totally of base with that assumption. Goldkaiser Posted July 19, 2017 Author Share Posted July 19, 2017 5) this item is mysterious to me, within the Wealden thier is a layer of shells mixed in from a storm event this is known as a coquina- within this horizon vertebrate remains can be found but it also includes reworked Jurassic sediments, occasionally ammonite chambers are found, this item appears to be hollow and made up of phosphate with an internal i filling of pyrite? Paleoworld-101 Posted July 19, 2017 Share Posted July 19, 2017 You've done well!!! Very nice finds. The two vertebrae in your original post look like Iguanodon caudals (tail verts). The others are too rolled to be certain but the second could be a rib fragment as you suggested. Goldkaiser Posted July 19, 2017 Author Share Posted July 19, 2017 6) Ammonites- the first one was found in the shingle as we entered the beach at yarvaland I'm curious as to if this represents as discussed above reworked Jurassic ammonites or a specimen from somewhere along that section- Ammonites I have found their before our often from the chalk like the following two specimens. heading out to wales chine first thing in the morning so hopefully with a bit of luck their will be some more ammonites Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've got a nice big vert I found two years ago. The Isle of Wight is a great place with such a variety of timescale. You've done really well. Love the croc tooth! Check Boulder beach.
