SCtooth
Found this on the coast in South Carolina. I was about to toss it aside but I noticed the striations on the front surface. It's about 1 & 3/8 inches from top to bottom. The back side looks nothing like a shark tooth, but could this just be a broken fragment of something that was once larger? Miocene_Mason
This looks like a fragalodon, a fragment of a megalodon tooth. Well, I'm getting ahead of myself, it's a worn shark tooth fragment, I'm guessing it's a megalodon, but I am horrid at shark tooth IDs, others may know. 3 “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
JohnBrewer
Welcome to the forum. i think this geological. @ynot knows his shark teeth and rocks. You do need to add a scale in mm or inches, it will help tremendously. Don't use s coin, folks from a different country won't necessarily know the coin size. 1 John Map of UK fossil sites
Fossildude19
Looks like a well worn tooth fragment. Probably not enough there for a positive ID. ynot
I agree with Fossildude19. Maybe, but not enough there to be sure. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Doctor Mud
I agree. Eroded tooth fragment. Could be the remains of a Meg. First image looks like the lingual side and could have traces of where the bourlette used to be. Keep looking - a nice complete one could be out there!
