Jurassic Footprint?

I found this at Ravenscar, North Yorkshire.

The area is Jurassic coastline with Ammonites, Belemnites and Marine Bivalves being common.

There is also a lot of fossil wood in places.

To my untrained eye it looks like a Therapod footprint but would welcome any more informed opinion.

I don't consider myself a trackway expert, but conceptually this piece presents a serious issue in that you have to assign which shapes are evidence and which to ignore. Without a greater context the definition of the track would need to be exceptional. Sorry but I agree it doesn't meet that standard.

I have to agree that this doesn't look like a footprint to me.

The morphology seems a bit off:

The 3rd "toe" imprint doesn't line up with the other 2 the way it should. :(

Also the deeper hole in the middle of the 3rd depression is abnormal, for a footprint.

Also, the continuation of the depression and subsequent wells at the bottom of the piece leads me to suspect erosion.

Looks more like erosion/water wear, (wave/sand action) to me, as well.

You do find footprints in that area, but this doesn't look regular enough. Also the tracks on that bit of coast do tend to be bigger, judging by the keys it is about 6 inches.

Thanks, Everyone.

Sadly I think you are right.

I would love it to be a footprint but the erosion theory seems much more likely.

Fossildude19, I liked your analysis, I have been informed and educated.

I can't claim this as a footprint.
