I'm not sure what this is,  haven't seen it before. This was a few feet from where I found a trilobite last week and was looking for more when I turned this over.  Any ideas?

lol yeah looks like a rockmonster. It matches shape and size (more or less ) as the side of a trilobite,  I'm leaning towards a crushed trilo right now. My theory on them is they must be nocturnal because all the ones I find in daytime are dead and hard as rock.  I'll take more pictures when I go back inside @ynot.

My only guess would be trilobite as well. Maybe pygidial spikes of some sort but I'm not familiar with the trilobite Fauna there.

As said Tony, we need to see more of it so it would be useful to clear it off.

This could be a trilobite, but it also something else.

The features appear to be consistent with a rhynchonellid brachiopod.

Good call,  I was thinking edge of a shell also.  I did clean it up more and in the second picture took the liberty to repair the missing eye,  looks like my uncle Ernie!

Id go with mollusk or brach.  There seems to be lines on the surface leading away from the exposed parts like shell ribs.

I think you are right with the brach. Thank you all for the good ID especially considering how little was showing. It's actually becoming one of my favorites with such a funny look to it.

I'm not seeing any signatures, is there an option to "show sigs"?

Look at what is subligned under our answers.

To have your own signature you have to click on the little arrow beside your pseudo (at the up and the right of that window beside your photo of profile), choose "Account Settings" and then "Signature" on the left column.

I know how to set my own signature,  that's in settings,  but I don't know how to see others I guess.  Do you have a signature?

This is all I see for you,  same with Tony or anyone else

Yes i have, but maybe you can't see the signature of other members because you haven't made enough posts.

You should ask to the moderators.

That might be,  in settings,  signature,  there is a switch to see others signatures. It was on,  I've turned it on and off several times,  doesn't seem to make any difference, no signatures also there are no symbols next to anyone's name like there used to be.  No matter,  the important stuff still works :)

Thanks for trying
