Greg31
My son found this today at North Myrtle Beach, SC. We are just wondering if anyone can help us identify what it is? Thanks! Edited August 6, 2017 by Greg31
ynot
Welcome to TFF! First impression is a concretion fragment. Pictures from other angles may change that opinion. Sagebrush Steve
Hard to tell from a single photo, but I wouldn't rule out man-made. The general shape and the relatively sharp edges could mean it is cast iron. Does a magnet stick to it? That would indicate it is made of iron, although that doesn't automatically mean it is man-made.
Innocentx
I see what appear to be serrations towards the 'base'. More and sharper photos will help. "Journey through a universe ablaze with changes" Phil Ochs
Darktooth
It could be a very worn rayplate fragment. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
Miocene_Mason
My first impression was manmade like a nail or something, but I could see worn Ray mouth plate. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
jpenn
If the object is more round than flattened in section, perhaps a worn crab/crustacean claw? If the end of the object on the right side of the picture suggests that it is or was once hollow, that would also support that.
