Found small tooth at Frankstown, 20 mile creek, Mississippi. Known as a Cretaceous outcrop. Tooth was mixed among shark teeth. Any ideas is appreciated.

It may be too worn to ID, but it looks to thick for a sharks tooth, maybe therapod?

I am fairly positive it is not a tooth of any kind. I do not believe it is a crab claw either. I think it is a small worn broken piece of bone.

I agree, there are several possibilities, e.g. a process from a vertebra.

I see a root tip from some sort of mammal tooth.

Not familiar with what all is found up that way but I'm with Charlie as it could be the root end of a mammal tooth. I have some horse incisor bits like that

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

Thanks so much everyone! My 10 year old son and I love to go fossil hunting, and I want him to understand the importance of learning from the experts on identification techniques.
