FossilDudeCO
Hi Hannah, welcome to the forum. Your fish appear to be from the Cretaceous of Brazil. These nodules are pretty common, we see a few of them here and there. @Fossildude19 may have more information for you, I generally work with Eocene fish

doushantuo
Hi and welcome Might be Rhacolepis, from the Crato formation in Brazil. Vinctifer might also be possible(from the same formation) Rhacolepis has been redescribed in 2016,but the thesis in question is under embargo until 8-6-2018
ynot
Welcome to TFF! Your fish are from Brazil. Others can help with a species and more on the location. You should post id request in the "ID" sub forum PS You should not show Your address on Your avatar-- city is good enough. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF.

Is that common?

He who pays the piper names the tune I guess. When I came across my old thesis recently i wanted to put it under an embargo out of embarrassment! FossilDAWG
The elongated scales seem to indicate Vinctifer comptoni more than Rhacolepis to me. Unfortunately both fish seem to have suffered considerable damage during their "preparation" which leaves much detail ambiguous. Don
abyssunder
I'm in the same camp, Don. The specimen in question is probably Vinctifer comptoni. 1 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. oilshale
I agree, Vinctifer comptoni from the Santana Formation Brazil. Definitely not Rhacolepis.
