Welcome to TFF! Jade is a metamorphic rock that does not contain fossils. It is often carved to resemble organics. Feel free to post pictures here and We will help to determine if it is real or fake. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." caldigger
Many of the Chinese ads on "everybody's favorite" auction site have those infamous polished ammonites from Madagascar labeled as Jade Ammonites, although they are not actually Jade. It's a misnomer. Please post just the pictures of the item in question.

caldigger
Just enter "jade ammonite" in the search bar of the auction site and you'll see what I mean.

aplomado
I've seen chinese e-bay sellers describe polished ammonites as "jade" for some reason. While not jade, a lot of them are very pretty. I have one myself.

BobWill
Welcome to the forum. I agree. It is a real ammonite and it's beautiful. That look would be a very hard thing to fake. Only the description is fake.

If they have Hi-res pictures it will be easier, and every fossil demands a different technique. Also it depends on what you mean by real. Fossils can get repaired or restored to enhance the quality, therefore making it not 100% natural. Keep looking! They're everywhere!

LordTrilobite
Yes, those are real fossil ammonites that have been polished to highlight the internal structures. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Aurelius
You can see the original surface in the inner whorls, which are more difficult to polish. These are usually more attractive (in my opinion) when unpolished, but it's certainly genuine. Something like that would be very expensive to fake. ynot
Yes it is an ammonite. The outer shell has been ground off and it has been polished, but it is a real fossil ammonite. Max-fossils
A very nice Cleoniceras besiarei! Those fossils are usually pretty cheap and common on the market, but are a must-have for fossil collectors (in my opinion). Here's some of mine. Both are from Madagascar, from the Cretaceous. An iridescent one: A polished one (like yours): Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil.
