Information on this vertebra

Recommended Posts

Can someone please help me identify this vertebra. It was found in north Mississippi in a creek with shark teeth, coral, shells and other items. It is 9" tall, 5" front to back and 4" wide. I'm not having great success finding someone that can identify this. Or much success uploading the pics so I might have to do it in separate posts. Thank you for any help received.

@Doug A

Do you know what geology is in the area around where you found it? If not, what "general" area was it? The geology/strata will help with the I'D by giving us a starting point.

I'm pretty sure, someone here will know.

I don't know much about it. Only that it was found in a creek bed in a lot of sand and gravel. As far as giving an educated detail of the area I won't be able to give one. I can give a laman's view of what I am finding down there though in hopes that would help.

Sorry

Where? Nearby town or county will help.

what types of sharks teeth and shells were found with it. There identities can help narrow down the age of the sediments also.

Big Vert means big animal.

I think that Bison or Bos is a really possibility.  Here is a comparison:

I do not know if one can differentiate Bison from modern cow.  Maybe @Harry Pristis

from what I matched off of this site and others the main sharks teeth have been from Gargoyle, sand, and tiger sharks.
