fossiling
This elrathria kingii was bought last winter in Okinawa. This is a pretty weird case because when I flipped it over, there seemed to be some weird markings. Furthermore, the trilobite did not seem to be casted from the outside, there is some cracking and no air bubbles visible. Also, there were quite a few for sale, and none looked the same. Plus, this species is so common, there shouldn't be any economic value in faking it. Any help is appreciated. See what I mean? Keep looking! They're everywhere! izak_
Looks fine to me. As you said, if they bothered faking it, they'd have made it better.
LordTrilobite
I agree. There's little reason to fake such a common trilobite. And it looks real as well. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Taogan
looks real to me. I've never heard of fake E. kingii, they would be more expensive than genuine ones
Fossildude19
Pretty much all of these have the ventral (inside) imprint of the integument on the bottom. Perfectly real. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Seguidora-de-Isis
I agree with everyone. To really counterfeit a fossil that is so common, yet so cheap and affordable, would be the same as spending 5 Dollars to counterfeit a 50 cents coin. Your fossil is 100% Real! The correct name for this trilobite is: Elrathia kingii. In the photo below, you can compare it to a specimen from my private collection. 1 Is It real, or it's not real, that's the question!
