Here's A Strange 'un

I have an ace in the hole, I've gotten on e-friendly terms with an Arkansas state geologist. I'm going to refer her to this thread, if she has input, I'll share it.

OK, here's what my Arkansas state geologist buddy opined:

You have found a sedimentary feature called a stylolite. Stylolites form from pressure solution from overburden (other rocks deposited on top etc.). They are neat features and occur in most of the limestones in northern Arkansas and in some sandstones. They sometimes will form a bedding plane surface and the surface texture will be rough or hummocky.

So huzzahs to those who leaned towards styolites! This looks like a reliable opinion, after all, she knows the state structure well!

Thanks again to all for the feedback.

Time for Tim's (Solius) peer reviewed Stylolite dance without the Darwin mask. :P

It kind of looks like a styolites(dissolution structure), but I have never seen them in those lengths.

Sorry, S.S. I should have identified you by name. I did the previous post in a hurry...
