Fossil'n'Roll
I just recently bought this on a certain auction site (that I've been spending too much time on lately). The seller said it is most likely a raptor caudal vertebra. It was a surface find from the Judith River Formation about 30 miles north of Glasgow, Montana. Is the seller's ID accurate? Trevor
I am unsure of the identity of the find; however, I beg you to please visit this site and post the item in question prior to purchasing the fossils. It will only benefit you in the future. Anyway, good luck with your future purchasing or collecting! : )
Miocene_Mason
It's quite thin, but I guess this is just because of its caudal positioning. I don't see any problems, but maybe others will know better. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Fossil'n'Roll
@Trevor Yeah, I probably should do that in the future. It was pretty cheap though so no worries.
ynot
This does not look like a vertebra to Me. But there are no diagnostic features on it that could be used to say what it is. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF. jpc
It certainly could be, but it is very worn. Hard to say for sure.
