Adam Hamby
I found this in a creek in Claiborne County, MS. It is bone and it is petrified. The smooth, straight sides are what is perplexing and even more so the "spiral on the one side. You can see the "spiral" in the photographs. This may be something comman and not man made. Can anyone help me with identifying this? Is it Native American? Photo of the "back"

Sharks of SC
I agree that it's definitely bone and looks mineralized from the pictures, but the "spiral" pattern is almost more like the incomplete groove of a muscle attachment scar or maybe some water-worn damage. I don't see anything that looks specifically altered by man. just my two cents.
Miocene_Mason
I agree completely with @Sharks of SC'a two cents, therefore that makes four cents, add another and you got yourself a nickel “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
