Hallo Friends, Colleages, Collectors

Grauwacke and the Rhenish Slate Mountains

Bundenbach and Gemünden are famous for the roof slate mining and the fantastic fossils that are handed over. Bundenbach is Unesco World Heritage.

But the "Rheinische Schiefergebirge" has even more to offer .... Quartz clefts with great mountain crystals, ore mining and

"Grauwacke" - a Palaeozoic sandstone with a high proportion of clay minerals and FOSSILS ..... see the pictures ..... these Pieces are from the quarry between Dieblich and Niederfell on the Mosel, a few kilometers further is Alken, famous for Devonian plant fossils ...... there I still have to go ....!
