Matrix Question

Hi forum,

I'm currently looking at a Plesiosaur tooth from Morocco.

The listing says, preserved in phosphatic matrix.

Does this mean it was found like this, or placed in this by the seller?

Thanks

Possibly, do you have a picture?

Welcome to the Forum, Liam. :)

There appears to be a crack in the matrix corresponding to the break in the tooth.

I would take that as a good sign that the tooth was not placed on the matrix, but, ... you never really know, with Moroccan stuff.
