Dimetrodon skull bones

hi everyone heres another fun bone. this one is the prefrontal bone of the upper skull.

I'll echo what Tim said, but the Permian nearest to me just kind of resembles the Pennsylvanian I'm in. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

So how long are You expecting that ox-bow site to keep producing fossils?

You are sure finding some nice pieces there.

Great question- the site was first discovered in 1909 by a group out of chicago. Sternberg collected the famous Smithsonian ddon there shortly after. Ive been digging there since 2007 and have worked probably ten percent of the quarry. Stratigraphically the oxbow is a couple hundred yards in length. Ultimately the site will be dug and studdied for centuries to come.

Although I have never had the opportunity to search the Permian I enjoy the

specimens you have graced The Fossil Forum with.

I'm sure there is more to come.

Ive been meaning to try to get out to that event. When is it? Hopefully I can fit it in this year.

Fossilmania has always been held on the last weekend of Oct.

(Oct.27-29/2017) Fossil Forum event calendar has it as Fossilmania XXXIV but I could swear it was XXXII.

I guess I'm just getting older faster than I thought I would.

 

Free entrance to all and more fossils to see than you can stick a shake at.

[People drag in some of the most amazing things they have found and yes some bring in "just plain ole rocks"]

 

Doors open early, I believe 8 am.

Somervell Co Expo Center. on Hwy 67.

(BTW: Kid friendly and there is always a miniature horse show, there in the arena, on that weekend as well.)
