Don't know what these are


Fossils?

IMG_2229.thumb.JPG.5996b023b3940a3ea8f37dbd668bf70b.JPGFound these in grand ledge MI, don't know if the second one is a fossil or not. are the fossils in the 3rd picture bivalves? I the only thing that I know about the 1st one is that it is sandstone.

fossil #1 is 2cm 3mm long and 7mm wide

 

fossil #2 is 3cm 1mm long and 2cm 4mm wide

 

fossil #3 is 5cm 4mm long and 3cm 7mm wide. the bivalves or fossils are 2mm-4mm

What's the time period? First looks like a calyx, second looks like coal.

First piece looks like an iron stain. It has the same texture as the surrounding rock.

Second looks like plant debris.

Third is shell pieces that are to fragmented to identify.

It is probably in lower Pennsylvanian or lower Mississippian. Second is probably coal

But not late Mississippian?:headscratch:

The Pennsylvanian comes right after the mississipian btw.
