This picture is also a bit too dark to make out. You may wish to also provide a scale, such as a ruler, to indicate size for more successful identification.

They are trace fossils.

This one looks like an arthrophycid, possibly Arthrophycus isp.

Or, they might be asterosomids, like Asterosoma.

Yup a trace fossil. Good to see more fossil hunters in the MD/WV area!
