JustinFL
I was looking at this piece and noticed these marks... could they be bit marks from a predator? This bone was found on Venice Beach FL

Miocene_Mason
No, definitely herbivore bites i have no idea, but it's a nice fossil! “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Ludwigia
Can you please point out more precisely what you are talking about? I can't for the life of me see anything resembling bite marks on these pieces. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Rockwood
The grooves in the top photo do bottom out in dense bone. I agree that they seem a little too natural to be evidence of predation though. If they crossed a greater variety of structure it would seem a better indication.
