Vroominvinny01
I found this in tioga county upstate NY in a creek bed. I'm curious what it is exactly. I've always stared at the ground in hopes of finding something neat and never have I seen one like this. I believe it's a tooth or maybe piece of a horn. Fossildude19
Hello, and Welcome to the Forum. You have found a very water worn Rugose coral - also known as "Horn" coral. These are fairly common finds in western New York. Very neat little example. Macrophyseter
Agreed. That's unfortunately not a tooth. You can clearly see that the bottom of the fossil doesn't have the features of any tooth, and looks more like something that would anchor to something else. Like coral. Nice coral thou. Macrophyseter
No problem, maybe one day you might find a decent tooth. Or even something better than that. Just keep digging For me, I can't dig. Because theres nowhere to dig legally here. If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!
