cool rock - looks like petrified peach?

Found this in South Missouri near Lake Ozarks. We were playing along a small river.   I am new at fossil ID but love to collect cool rocks & fossils.
Mainly just wanted to share, but would love some input thoughts...

It's a cool rock, I agree. It looks to have silica-rich content, so I think it could be related to chert concretions.

Softer more acid susceptible minerals that are not silicified have weathered out.

Probably as a concretion, not a nodule, which could have originated as carbonate related to a life form (as you said). :)
