Jacqui
I found this fossil on the beach at Watermouth Cove North Devon U.K. Among small stones at the edge of a freshwater stream that flows across the beach. I would be grateful for help to identify it. Many thanks.
Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. I cropped and brightened your photo a bit. Hmm. My first thought was some type of coral, like Syringopora. Maybe the locals will have a look-see. @TqB @Kosmoceras @JohnBrewer Regards, Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." TqB
It is indeed a coral, looks like a Devonian tabulate one. Thamnopora is a strong likelihood - a 5 pence piece is about 18mm across making the corallites 1.5mm+ . 3 Tarquin

JohnBrewer
Hi Jacqui, welcome to the forum! I agree with Tarquin. You can find find other sites in Devon here and of course you can take a day trip to the famous Jurassic Coast of Somerset. Best not use a coin coin as a scale, it will confuse non UK residents, a ruler is better John Map of UK fossil sites
