Please can someone Id this fossil?

I found this fossil on the beach at Watermouth Cove North Devon U.K. Among small stones at the edge of a freshwater stream that flows across the beach. I would be grateful for help to identify it. Many thanks.

Hmm. :headscratch:

My first thought was some type of coral, like Syringopora. 

 

Maybe the locals will have a look-see.

It is indeed a coral, looks like a Devonian tabulate one.

Thamnopora is a strong likelihood - a 5 pence piece is about 18mm across making the corallites 1.5mm+ .

Hi Jacqui, welcome to the forum!

 

I agree with Tarquin. 

 

You can find find other sites in Devon here and of course you can take a day trip to the famous Jurassic Coast of Somerset.  

 

Best not use a coin coin as a scale, it will confuse non UK residents, a ruler is better :)
