Brittle Star
Just got around to resizing some more photos from Oxford. The first is part of a Moroccan trilobite slab, the slab on display is huge, amazing to see. Next is a section of the equally huge slab of crinoids. Following two photos are ones I took behind the scenes visit of saurian remains donated in 1875 by Thomas Hawkins. Next on display is what they think is part of an Icthy found by Mary Anning with stomach contents. 1 Never ask a starfish for directions
doushantuo
Nice!!! The thought of it possibly having been found by Mary Anning is tantalizing
Andyl
This museum is absolutely the reason I love biology and prehistoric life! Great to see it getting some good reviews! I used to go from the age of 5 - we lived in the area during my childhood. Not sure if anyone has mentioned their pliosaur lower jaw. It's getting on for 3 metres in length!!! That single fossil blew my mind for years!!! Granted the NHM in London has some impressive fossils but you can't really concentrate on anything in the monsterous crowds - this place is SO much more enjoyable and rewarding.
