Żuliana Croatia fossil

Looks like maybe a murex snail of some sort, could be a fossil. Was this found in a particular formation?

Are murex shells found in the baltic ocean? I thought they are a more tropical species.

This may be true, but Croatia is on the Mediterranean Sea (more specifically the Adriatic)

With something found on a beach it is hard to say if it is a fossil or not. If the species is extinct or there is rock adhered to it can tell if it is, but other than that not much can be said.
