abctriplets
Just going through the last of the items I'm framing for my kids, and printing out labels. These were some fish they picked up at the fish dig in Wyoming. I'm pretty sure the first two are Knightias? 1) 2) (My son learned not to toss a baton *in* the house, *over* the fossil table...) 3) Same fish? And is this upside down? 4) baby version? (also...is it upside down?) 5) and then this one I thought used to be a Phareodos before it blew up. But @FossilDudeCO thought it was a large Priscacara
Miocene_Mason
Priscacara liops is Cockerellites liops now, serrata is still Priscacara though, don't know if that matters here. Good luck with the IDs! “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
caldigger
Just get in the habit of taking your pictures upside down, then in reality they will be rightside up. Lol
FossilDudeCO
Yup, 3 and 4 are upside down, but they are all Knightia on my computer now with super sized images and I am still seeing a Priscacara for your big blown fish! @WhodamanHD you are correct, but the maximum size on a Cockerellites liops is about 5.5" so size is 98% definitive even if you can't see the gill plates. There is no scale here, but in the last picture it looked larger than 5". Based on your actual size there it could be Cockerellites or Priscacara! Give it a measure for us won't you

FossilDudeCO
I think I will stick with Pricacara serrata for that guy (or gal!) It was a good sized fish!
