Magoo30
Brought my son fossil hunting today up in schoharie ny and he found something that sort of resembles a trilobite.
Fossildude19
Sorry, but it is definitely not a trilobite. My first impression was horn coral, but it could be a brachiopod, as well. If brachiopod, Leptaena rhomboidalis is a possibility. More of the item would need to be uncovered to be 100% certain either way. Magoo30
Thank You, even though he didn't find a trilobite he had a blast. He found a few nice fossils there to add to his collection.

Bullsnake
Very cool hash plate! A lot of variety going on there. This looks interesting, maybe promising for trilobite: What do you think, Tim? @Fossildude19 Steve
Fossildude19
Sorry Steve, ... that looks like an upside down Leptaena The folds are filled in with matrix. 4 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Monica
Hi @Magoo30! Your experience reminded me of what it's like to go fossil-hunting with my daughter (she'll be 7 on Saturday) - she loves finding any fossil, especially "shells" such as brachiopods and bivalves, but her eyes are always peeled for the elusive trilobite... So far she has only found one in the areas where we hunt near where we live, but she's always looking for more... Nice hash plate, by the way - I love how you can see so many different things on one rock - simply amazing!!! Monica
