Sorry, but it is definitely not a trilobite. 

My first impression was horn coral, but it could be a brachiopod, as well.  If brachiopod,  Leptaena rhomboidalis is a possibility.

More of the item would need to be uncovered to be 100% certain either way.

Thank You, even though he didn't find a trilobite he had a blast. He found a few nice fossils there to add to his collection.

Hi @Magoo30!

 

Your experience reminded me of what it's like to go fossil-hunting with my daughter (she'll be 7 on Saturday) - she loves finding any fossil, especially "shells" such as brachiopods and bivalves, but her eyes are always peeled for the elusive trilobite... So far she has only found one in the areas where we hunt near where we live, but she's always looking for more...

 

Nice hash plate, by the way - I love how you can see so many different things on one rock - simply amazing!!!
