Article in Nature has interesting map that shows locations of former coral reefs on edge of continental shelf off the Texas coast. One live reef still exists. Reefs were populated with coral now found in Carribian. A takeaway... coral reefs might be able to exist again is suitable substrate existed. The ocean now is probably at least as warm as it was at the height of the last ice age when multiple reefs existed. Sediment from rivers might be preventing the formation of new shallower reefs.

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.
