tiburon
Hi all, I wanted to start a thread for people to share their favorite fossils with amazing coloration. To kick it off here is one of my favorite shark teeth (a hemipristis from BV in Florida, miocene age). It is near max size for the species, just under 2" on the slant.

Ludwigia
Great stuff here so far! I particularly like the various colors brought on by the iron minerals in the surrounding matrix of this cut and polished Graphoceras concavum from the southern German Aalenian. This Dactylioceras sp. from the Toarcian in the Whitby area, Yorkshire, England is also one of my favorites. 4 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. jpc
Some of you guys who have been loitering here for a while may have seen these before... my blue crocodile and turtle bones from the Eocene Wasatch Fm of southeastern Wyoming. The challenge here is to Identify all the bones you see, and find the crocodile dentary. Most of the blue bones are turtle plates, but there are two blue croc cervical vertebrae. Notoice also that some of the bones actually change color halfway through... blue to brown, brown to white, etc. Fun stuff. Another pile of croc bones, and turtle parts.

Max-fossils
Nice topic! And, those are stunning teeth And there are quite a few other awesome fossils too; that blue croc is wicked! Here are some more examples. There are, of course, the very common polished Madagascan ammonites Cleoniceras, with always great colors. Then, I also have those small pyrite ammonites Aconoceras from Carniol, France. From the Aptian of the Cretaceous. Though not really visible on this picture, they have beautiful golden flashes when held under a light. Looking forward to seeing some opalized fossils too; those are always impressive. 1 Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil.
