furblim Posted November 11, 2017 Share Posted November 11, 2017 I have had this fossil since I was a child but have never had it identified. Now my son is curious about it so we thought we would see if we could find out something about it. It was found by an uncle near Praha, TX (between San Antonio and Houston) about 40 years ago if memory serves. The fossil in the middle is 1 3/8" x 3/8". The stone has a strange feel that's hard to describe. Maybe like clay or really old chewed-up chewing gum! Thanks for your help. (And sorry for the tags - I needed three so made some stuff up.) It looks like it may be preserved in chert. furblim Posted November 11, 2017 Author Share Posted November 11, 2017 Thanks! Is there any way to estimate how old it is? I see that Texas was underwater about 265,000,000 years ago.
