Unknown phalanx from Sharktooth hill

Hey all I found this little phalanx(?) at Sharktooth Hill.

Can You help Me identify it?

Scale bar is 2 cm.

Not a pinniped - this is probably a cetacean phalanx owing to the lack of clear synovial articular surfaces.

Not within their flippers, though. Aside from the shoulder joint, all other joints in a cetacean flipper are fibrocartilage/nonsynovial.

Hi Mike,

I was thinking sea turtle as a possibility too but would expect both ends to be more pitted as a sign of a site of continued bone growth - can be difficult to distinguish from postmortem wear.  Bobby's probably right but I would go ahead and see if I could find some images of sea turtle flipper bones.

That is an interesting idea, but the sea turtle flipper bones that came up in a google search look round where the piece in question is more flattened with an oval cross section.
