Possible fossil near Moab

I found this which looks like a fossil to me just south east of Moab UT. I debated with my friend about if it was a fossil or not so I thought I would post it here and see what everybody thinks.

It looks like a fossil, but it is hard to tell what it is without a closer photo. Not knowing what formations are around Moab, my first though was a burrow of some sort. Are you able to provide a photo of the fractured end, or did you leave it in place?

We left it in place but it looked more like segments. The ends appeared to have rock that looked more like the matrix around the ends of the segments.

In a situation like this important information would have to come from the surroundings. Determining what is bedding, cleavage,weathering cracks, and the general type of depositional environment would almost be necessary to have any certainty.

Not much help.

If it is a fossil it would be a trace of some sort. Root trace would be another possibility.

It may also be a concretion.
